UKIZ organises Britain's innovation capability around 11 fields shaping what the country can build next. Each campus brings together the companies, research, facilities, funding, jobs and people Britain already has in that field, wherever they are based.
Individually, the campuses reveal extraordinary capability. Together, they show what the United Kingdom could become if more of that capability were visible and connected.
A campus is not a site, a designation or a development programme. It is a lens on evidence that already exists and a record of what is still missing.

01Innovation campusRobotics & Autonomous Systems
Machines that get on with it.
Britain has strong robotics and autonomy research and comparatively few deployed systems. The mission is customers, testbeds and certification, not more demonstrations.

Biology, but with a build spec.
Engineering biology reaches into medicine, materials, food, chemicals and energy. The constraint is rarely the science. It is fermentation, scale-up and manufacturing capacity.

Things get weird here.
Britain built an early, sustained national quantum programme. The mission is to ensure the resulting companies, supply chain and customers are British rather than acquired early.

Britain will not compete on leading-edge logic volume. It can lead in compound semiconductors, photonics, design and specialist connectivity, if fabrication and packaging capacity exists here.

Materials sit upstream of almost every other mission. Britain discovers materials well and qualifies and manufactures them slowly, which is where the value is lost.

Britain still makes things.
Britain retains a serious manufacturing base with an unusually strong applied research estate around it. The mission is transition: batteries, electrification, digital production and the supply chains beneath them.

It's getting busy up there.
Britain builds more small satellites than most of Europe and captures comparatively little downstream data value. Launch sites and operators are licensed, but no orbital launch has yet been achieved from UK soil. The mission covers manufacture, launch, data and applications together.

Each campus page ends with what is missing: facilities UKIZ cannot find a route into, questions still open, and coverage that is thin.
