Access, not proximity

Most UK capability is nationally accessible. A partner in Seoul, Boston or Munich does not need to sit beside a British laboratory or manufacturer to use one. What matters is finding the right capability and being able to approach the organisation directly.

Being physically close earns its place where work depends on repeated hands on sessions, shared specialist equipment or sustained exchange with a research group. Where that is not the case, treat the whole country as the catchment.

No. UKIZ shows who is working on what, with the evidence behind it, and links to the organisation's own published contact route. There is no brokered introduction and no promise of a reply.
Do we need to be based in the UK to work with UK capability?
Usually not. Research collaboration, testing and manufacture are routinely arranged across distance. Being close by matters most where work depends on repeated hands on sessions, shared specialist equipment or frequent exchange with a research group.
