UKIZ directory
UK innovation ecosystems, region by regioncapability already lives here.
UKIZ maps existing concentrations of companies, research, capital, infrastructure and specialist capability across Britain.
UKIZ did not create these clusters. It maps them. Every record carries its sources and a verification date.
147 verified organisations and assets.
147 active records supported by acceptable evidence, of 185 in the canonical directory. The remaining 38 are discovered records still being verified and are never counted as established records. Research organisations and infrastructure both include the Catapult network, so category figures overlap by design.
41 Investors · 61 Companies · 23 Universities · 16 Research organisations · 17 Infrastructure assets

Where a category reads "coverage expanding", UKIZ has not yet mapped enough of it to publish a number. That describes the directory, not the country, a thin count is a data gap until research proves it is a real gap in the country.
By place
Every place answers two questions: what can be done here, and what is it like to work here. Places are never scored or ranked against each other.

For the longer read on what a place is actually like, the destination pages cover the work, the people and the practicalities.
Questions people actually ask
- What is a regional innovation ecosystem?
- The working relationships between companies, universities, research organisations, investors and infrastructure in one place. UKIZ maps the organisations and the evidence for them, then leaves the reader to judge how strong the relationships are.
- Which UK regions and cities does UKIZ cover?
- Coverage runs across the United Kingdom and is deepest where records have been verified. Where a place looks thin, that describes the UKIZ directory rather than the place itself, and it goes into the research queue.
- Does UKIZ rank places against each other?
- No. Places are not scored or ranked. UKIZ shows what is in a place, what is verified and when it was last checked, so a reader can weigh it against their own question.
- How current are the records?
- Every record carries a last verified date. Records that age past the checking window are caveated rather than quietly presented as current.

How this directory is maintained
Records come from the organisation's own published material and authoritative public sources such as UKRI and the Companies House register. Where something is not published, UKIZ leaves it blank rather than estimate it.
Every record carries a last-verified date. Anyone can propose a correction, a new organisation or a missing cluster, and every submission is reviewed before it appears.
There is no paid placement and no sponsored ranking. Inclusion and ordering are based on relevance to the question being asked, never on payment or relationship.
